July/August 2012

The Moreland Family

 Central Asia                                                                               July/August

Hello!

We made it safely to *****stan on Friday morning July.  We took a couple of days to try to get over the jet lag. Sunday morning Bro. McFall picked us up and we headed to the mountains where Friend of Children orphanage was having the summer camp.  We spent the following week with them and had a great time. While at camp Nathan our 9yr old fell out of a tree and broke his left arm.  We drove about an hour away into the capitol to a pediatric hospital where they set his arm.  After working on a medic for 20 years I was a little worried about the conditions of a hospital in this country.  It wasn't the greatest place on earth, but they got the job done.

We came back home to ****** on the 31st.  Anne came down with two different viruses, as well as most of our group.  These viruses are still around and are going through the families and orphanage.  We hope it will go soon.  Also, when we got back we had no shower because it broke.  We did some things the old fashion way for a little while.

Now that we are getting over the viruses and looking back, we are truly enjoying ourselves.  On this trip we are looking closer to the culture, languages, and what we will be doing in the future here.  We had a good talk with the McFall's last night.  They are such an encouragement to us.  They have done everything to make us feel at home.  Anne and the girls will be helping with dinner time food preparation for around 30-40 people and devotional time as well as Sunday school lessons for the little ones.  I will be in charge of all the farm work, livestock and preaching.  I am teaching the boys how to take care of a small dairy hobby farm. This is important because they use and sell the milk here and raise their own vegetables.  I have been teaching them lessons out of the Bible to help them understand their work here.

We did amputate one of our goat's legs this last week.  He is now doing very well and in good spirits. We have a lot of work here to do and with 30 children and so much more to take care of, it doesn't seem like there are enough hours in the day. I wish I could share more with you in this little time that we have.  The Lord is so good to us all.  We don't deserve it!  Please keep praying for us as we are seeking what and how the Lord will work through us here.  So many things are going on and we can hardly comprehend it all.

We will be heading back to Columbus, Ohio on September.  I believe it will be 26 hours of traveling from when we leave here until we make it to Columbus.

Until Christ Returns,

The Moreland Family
